The first and most important thing to consider for everyone is cost. So planning and research are the keys. Ok, lets look at venues:- Do you use your own home or the local village hall/community centre.

Well the cheaper option is surely your home, yeah great, but do you really want 10, 15, or 20 not yet water tight toddlers running around your new plasma screen TV or left over party snacks trodden into the beautiful cream carpet you just bought. Maybe the hall down the road is looking better as you read. Now you need to know how much a hall will cost, well that’s were research comes in have a look at my halls for hire page I think you will find something there, contact numbers etc, etc, it is possible to hire a party room for as litlle as £10.00 per hour. You could always go for the cheaper option the back garden. But unfortunately the great British weather being what it is, dry one minute and throwing it down the next, maybe not such a good idea.

The next thing to look at is food. What will toddlers eat? Answer, absolutely anything that’s bad for them, jelly, ice cream, sweets, chocolate, they can be bribed into eating sausages but only once, and maybe a sandwich or two.

Heres an idea, make a sandwich look like a swiss roll.
'Swiss roll' like sandwiches are an easy party food – these work best with contrasting colours. eg cream cheese on brown, or jam / yeast extract spread on white. Spread a slice with filling, trim crusts off and roll the slice like a swiss roll. Chill for 30 minutes then slice into 1½cm wide slices and place on a plate. These often get eaten more than other savory foods as they look appealing and are different to other sandwiches.
By using small cutters many shapes can be made for younger children displayed on a plate as bite size mouthfuls. For many more food suggestions goto http://www.netmums.com/parties/Party_Food.247/ for great childrens party food ideas.
As far as drinks are concerned anything sweet and sticky will go down a treat. But you may end up with very active children with all that sugar so maybe sugar free is best. Remember the kids can`t get there on there own so parents will need to be catered for as well, and you should really encourage them to stay, you don`t want to be looking after 20 toddlers on your own believe me, it`s not the best way to spend the afternoon. So a good mix of toddler friendly food and adult eats is the way to go.

Now we come to entertainment. Well hiring Soft Play equipment is always good and reasonably priced. A Bouncy Castle is another option but they are noisy, and if you have a large budget a Children’s Entertainer or Toddler Disco may be a good idea. If you have the cash all of them would make a fantastic Party.

Nowadays it is becoming customary to send your guests home with a goodie bag. The contents of these range from a small toy to expensive bangles and jewelry.
Personally I think less is more so a balloon, a colouring book, and crayons are as good as anything.

Just one last thing to remember. When the party is organised and the tables have been set, the guests have arrived and your entertainment is in progress. The one most important thing you CAN DO,,,,,have fun with your toddler spend loads of time playing silly games, building things with the Soft Play shapes and just have fun. The most precious gift you can give your child is your time! And best of all,,,,it costs nothing.
